2011 Social Report

Easter Good Friday evening there will be another of the popular pub games evenings in the main bar, a joint social event with Medina Combined Clubs. It should be a fun evening.
The next big date for your diaries will be Saturday, 7 May, when Dame Ellen MacArthur will officially open the club’s new 38-berth marina. Come along and take a look at this stunning new facility. Don’t forget the club’s AGM takes place the same day.
A May Ball is planned at the club for Saturday, 21 May, with a top Island band (name to be confirmed soon) plus sit-down meal – it’s a great chance to dress up and enjoy a great night out. If you are interested, let Jo in the club office know (tel 01983 296333 or email secretary@ccyc.org.uk), as unless sufficient interest is shown the ball will not go ahead – the club cannot afford to make a loss on social events.
There will be another club Open Day on Sunday, 5 June, for all members and potential members, with barbecue and a chance to try different types of boats. Date and details for this will be confirmed soon, keep an eye on the club’s website, http://ccyc.org.uk
For Cowes Week, we will again be offering a Commodore’s Cocktail Party, with wine and canapés, tickets available to all members, on the Sunday evening, 7 August. The Jazz on the Water event will take place on Thursday, 11 August, with a highly respected Oscar Petersen tribute band promising a great night.
The club now has new caterers, who will cater for in-house club events and keep the charges to an acceptable level. The successful fitting out supper in March was an example of this.
Any non-members wishing to use the club and have catering will be put in touch with them as a preferred supplier.
Any one wishing to supply their own catering will have to abide by the club’s terms and conditions. All caterers will have to pay the club a percentage of the ticket price or a flat rate, which is to be negotiated for the use of the kitchen and its facilities

Below is a tariff of charges that for Members and Non-members using the club’s marquee and other facilities, for hospitality events:

Non-Members’ Marquee hire, incl tables & chairs, £600
Members’ Marquee hire, incl tables and chairs £200
Class event hire is £75 for up to 3 hours & £100 for 3 hours or more.
Corkage on all drinks not supplied by the club will be £7.50 per bottle.

Sadly, due to work commitments I will be stepping down as Social Secretary at the AGM.

Kevin Phillips
Social Secretary
