The Club has extended its founder's ethos and now hosts the Cowes Sailability Club, whose aim is to promote and facilitate water sports for Island people with disabilities.
Their members have full access to our facilities and contribute to its upkeep and they bolster our own sailability events. Our members now enjoy many training and social programmes offered by Cowes Sailability. In addition general improvements are being carried out to our facilities that are partially or wholly funded from grants and other financial aid that this relationship is attracting
They have Club nights, for talks and lectures, and day cruises around the Solent . On Club nights they run talks and instruction on different aspects of sailing and motor boating, as an understanding of the environment and use of equipment is essential to safety on the water.
They were established in 2002 under the auspices of the Royal Yachting Association Sailability initiative and the Club is affiliated to the RYA.
In 2010 the Cowes Sailability Club was granted the Queen's Award for Voluntary Services.
